Additional Information for Prospective Foster Families

A foster home can only have 5 children (including biological children) at any given time. Each child in foster care has medical insurance through the state of Kentucky, but foster parents are required to get them to all medical appointments. Each child will be enrolled at the appropriate school in your local school district. Foster families will receive a per diem rate based on each child’s level of care that is set by the state.

Each child that is considered for your home will be hand chosen and you will be able to be a part of the decision-making process to ensure an appropriate placement is made. We strive for each placement to be successful and encourage families to be a part of every aspect of the children’s lives.

If you have questions or would like any additional information, please fill out the form below. You can also call (606) 545-7270 to speak with BFS staff.
