Steve Yeary has been the Executive Director of the Appalachian Children's Home since January of 2001. Mr. Yeary is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a B.A. in Social Sciences minoring in History and Social Work. He arrived at the Children's Home with experience as a U.S. Army Drill Sergeant, a director in hospital administration, and a state employee in a residential juvenile facility. Mr. Yeary has also completed certification as an Equine Science Riding Instructor.

His expertise in finding funding sources in the form of grants, government programs, and state/federal contracts has been an invaluable resource for the Home. Under his direction, the Children's Home is now home to 44 teenagers, employs 60 staff members, and has an annual budget of $2.9 million. Mr. Yeary's wife, Alice, is also an employee of the Children's Home. His 18-year-old son, Josh, is enrolled as a Chemical Engineering major at the University of Kentucky.
